This was last updated in September 2025. --- ## Background Lately, I've been reflecting on ways to grow [[My YouTube channel]] and take things to the next level. It has felt like I've been on this plateau for months, if not years. I'd like to give the channel the effort it deserves. I want to be able to look back and say, "I gave this thing my all." At the same time, I want to treat the YouTube channel as a long term project that I continue to work on **year after year**. Something I continue to have fun with, potentially decades from now. ## Mission My mission for the YouTube channel: *I help people live a more intentional life through reading and technology. ## Content My buckets: - Kindle - Kobo - Readwise/Note taking - Apple - Industry - Community Repeatable videos/series: - E-reader reviews - E-reader comparisons - Book Tech tutorials - Tech I Love # X - Quarterly life updates ## Target Audience In addition to classifying each video with a content bucket, it would be helpful to identify each video’s intended target audience. There are three types: - True Fans - Core and Casual - Exponential Potential The goal is to deliver 80% of my videos for my core audience, while also publishing 20% of my videos with the intention of attracting a larger audience outside my core niche. Think of it this way, core audience = Book Tech. This my “floor” and baseline. The more of these videos I make, the higher my overall baseline will become. Exponential potential is my ceiling. Keep trying to break through it. Check out [[Tweets From Denver]] for more on this topic. > I follow the 80/20 rule: 80% of videos need to be expected to do well with a current audience. 20% of your videos that go out need to be intentionally designed so that IF it hits, it can change the entire future of your channel for the better. ## My SOP for working on YouTube A balance between urgency and long term consistency. Part of me wants to hustle and push out videos as often as I can. Another part of me wants to remain sustainable and keep growth slow and steady. I think my goal is somewhere in the middle. Have a baseline for consistency (one video a week, one newsletter a week). Strive to exceed it (two videos a week, active community engagement).
