I'm adding this to my [[Shabad bookmarks]] because it references [[ਕਸੁੰਭ (Kasumbh)]] and I just learned what that actually means. It gives the Shabad a whole new meaning. This shabad is actually referring to [[The temporary pleasures of maya]], which I did not realize before.` --- ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੫ ॥ Shalok, Fifth Mehl: ਮਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਮੈ ਛਡਿ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਰੰਗਿ ਕਸੁੰਭੈ ਭੁਲੀ ॥ (ਮਿਤ੍ਰੁ - Friend) (ਪਿਆਰਾ - beloved) (ਨਾਨਕ - O Nanak) (ਜੀ - O soul) (ਮੈ - I) (ਛਡਿ - abandoned) (ਗਵਾਇਆ - lost) (ਰੰਗਿ - in the color) (ਕਸੁੰਭੈ - of the safflower) (ਭੁਲੀ - was fooled) I abandoned and lost my Beloved Friend, O Nanak; I was fooled by the transitory color of the safflower, which fades away. ਤਉ ਸਜਣ ਕੀ ਮੈ ਕੀਮ ਨ ਪਉਦੀ ਹਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਢੁ ਨ ਲਹਦੀ ॥੧॥ (ਤਉ - then) (ਸਜਣ - friend) (ਕੀ - of) (ਮੈ - I) (ਕੀਮ - value) (ਨ - not) (ਪਉਦੀ - understand) (ਹਉ - I) (ਤੁਧੁ - You) (ਬਿਨੁ - without) (ਅਢੁ - half a shell) (ਨ - not) (ਲਹਦੀ - attain) I did not know Your value, O my Friend; without You, I am not worth even half a shell. ||1||
