The term Zettelkasten is actually a combination of two german words: *Zettel* meaning "note" and *Kasten* meaning box. Together, they represent a popular note taking system rooted in placing physical notecards into a slip-box.
In the digital world, there have been many adaptations of this system (everybody does it slightly differently). But they all revolve around this central idea of linking notes together whenever possible as a way to form connections.
Before migrating to Obsidian and adopting Zettelkasten, I was using Apple Notes and the PARA method by [[Tiago Forte]]. That worked well, but over the years, I noticed that the vast majority of my notes were never looked at again. It felt like I was under utilizing the potential of maintaining a digital second brain.
And that's how I ended up here. A subscriber of mine suggested Obsidian and I fell deep into the rabbit hole.
I've invested a great deal of time into defining my [[Personal]] system, and want to use this note as an index for all things relating to it.
