Lately, I've been reflecting on ways to grow [[My YouTube channel]] and take things to the next level. It has felt like I've been on this plateau for months, if not years.
I'd like to give the channel the effort it deserves. I want to be able to look back and say, "I gave this thing my all." At the same time, I want to treat the YouTube channel as a long term project that I continue to work on **year after year**. Something I continue to have fun with, without putting pressure on it to become my full time source of income.
My mission for the YouTube channel: *I help people live a more intentional life through reading*
The ideal vision:
**Try for two videos every week**
- Do not create a massive content calendar in advance
**My Book Tech content buckets:**
- Kindle
- Kobo
- Readwise/Note taking
- Apple
- Industry
- Community
## Target Audience
In addition to classifying each video with a content bucket, it would be helpful to identify each video’s intended target audience. There are three types:
- True Fans
- Core and Casual
- Exponential Potential
The goal is to deliver 80% of my videos for my core audience, while also publishing 20% of my videos with the intention of attracting a larger audience outside my core niche. I should do one of these experiments per sprint (one video every two weeks).
Think of it this way, core audience = Book Tech. This my “floor” and baseline. The more of these videos I make, the higher my overall baseline will become.
On the other hand, exponential potential = reading as a whole. This is my “ceiling”. By pushing my ceiling higher and higher, the channel will grow. Having videos specifically designed for this purpose is what I need to experiment with. So far, I’ve been relying on growth to come from core videos that happen to pop off. I haven’t really tried breaking the ceiling in other ways. Check out [[Tweets From Denver]] for more on this topic.
> I follow the 80/20 rule: 80% of videos need to be expected to do well with a current audience. 20% of your videos that go out need to be intentionally designed so that IF it hits, it can change the entire future of your channel for the better.
