## Ingredients
- 1 cup **unsweetened applesauce**
- ½ cup **raw sugar**
*(Tip: Use less if using sweetened cocoa or hot chocolate powder)*
- 1 tsp **vanilla extract**
- ¾ cup **unbleached white flour**
- ⅓ cup **cocoa powder**
*(Can substitute with sweetened hot chocolate powder like Whole Foods brand)*
- 2 tsp **baking powder**
- ½ tsp **baking soda**
- ½ tsp **salt**
- ½ cup **semisweet vegan chocolate chips**
- 1 dash **cinnamon** *(optional)*
## Instructions
1. **Preheat oven** to 350°F. Lightly spray or oil an **8 x 8 inch baking pan**.
2. In a **large bowl**, mix:
- Applesauce
- Sugar
- Vanilla
3. In a **second bowl**, whisk together:
- Flour
- Cocoa powder
- Baking powder
- Baking soda
- Salt
- Cinnamon (optional)
4. Make a **well** in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the wet mixture.
5. Mix until **just combined** — don’t overmix.
6. Gently **fold in** the chocolate chips *(and walnuts if desired)*.
7. Pour into the prepared pan and **spread evenly**.
8. **Bake for 25–30 minutes**, until the center is firm and no longer sticky.
9. Let cool **completely** before slicing.
## Tips
- Use **two bowls**: one large for wet, one small for dry — all ingredients will eventually end up in the smaller bowl.
- These brownies get more delicious as they cool!
